right why would a car be on a Q plate is ther a list of resons why and is ther ay legal proceding to take to remove the Q plate any info on Q plate and who issue them and reson ect would be great or any links to info thank you :top:

 

Q's can never be removed afaik.

 

as said,you cant put private plates on them or anything,gotta be Q.

 

Q plater are usually reshelled cars I think, or a certain percent of the original vehicle (certain items) has been replaced.

May also be that for some reason the original id cannot be put back on the car, ie stolen and all the id has been cut out, so can't be replaced.

Always worth a chunk less than a normal example, and will be harder to sell.

If it was a car that you are going to keep, is in good condition and cheap then it's ok, and you don't mind the Q

 

there 2 resons i know of why there on a Q
1 its be stolen and lost its ID and put back on the road
2 its been built from a bear shell with out ID

 

Or the Shell has been modified and it's been through SVA.
There are thousands of cars on the road with modified shells that should be SVA'd and should be a Q, for example all the cars with 4 x 4 floorpans grafted into them.

If the proposed review of modified cars goes ahead all these will get caught up and will end up on Q along with thousands of other modified cars.

I bought a Ducati 748SPS that turned out was stolen in Europe and cloned with a legit UK bike. The original ID couldn't be traced so it was 'Q'plated.

The value of the bike plummeted by half, so expect similar on a 'Q' plated car.

As already said, once 'Q' plated, always 'Q' plated. They wouldn't even let me pick the rest of the letters and numbers!
