Hi peeps, got a slightly annoying problem that when I take a hard right turn for more than about 2 secs the fuel pump is heard to make a very strange speeding up noise and obviously the engine drops speed at the same time.

As soon as the car straightens up or on any left hand turn it's fine.

Bit of info on the car at the mo...

It's a 1993 Escort to which i've fitted an EFI Fiesta RS turbo engine.
I've changed the fuel tank (it was only a carb. 1.6 before) to one which I was led to believe is from a MK5 XR3i with integral fuel pump. The tank looks pretty much new in appearance too!

The only way it runs ok when cornering is if the tank is pretty much full.

Would fitting some sort of swirl pot fix this?

As another thought is the pump in the tank adequate for forced induction, ie do ZT engine owners change their fuel pumps?

Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

a baffled tank would sort it!! pretty much the same as a baffled sump stops air being sucked up on fast corners/two wheels!!,
---------are you running around with a fiver in the tank!!lol

 

hehe not a fiver, prob about £15 lol

not gonna change the tank as i'm not exactly rallying the car around...this is just doing some normal town driving and roundabouts, surely something isn't right....
