if you sent it std then you'll have to refund the item + postage, and learn to send recorded from now on

You should not have to refund him.

You posted it, if he wanted it insured he should have specified wanting recorded.

Its easy to say you havent got it and request a refund.

I always send stuff Recorded so can get signed proof of delivery, and cash on collection if dealing with cars, not that I'm pessamistic or anything

doesnt work like that, its the sellers legal responsibility to ensure it arrives.

Sending insured means sweet FA if they pay by paypal...

I sent a guy something recorded, he signed for it and then requested his money back through paypal saying I never sent it.....

I informed paypal I had tracking number and proof of postage/signature but the money got took out of my paypal balance and refunded to him.

Luckily he wasnt too far away from a friend I was visiting a few weeks later so I got my money back the old fashioned way but thats not the point.

Ebay and paypal have gone to pot lately....Even sending something insured, signed for to a verified paypal address they still screw you.

If it was me in your position i'd refund him as its not worth the negative feedback you would encounter if not....but it all depends on how much you value your feedback.
