hat to reinstall whole of XP again 
anyway went to install a game it said i only have 860meg of memory should have about 2 gig????????????????????

Case open, pop the ram out (don't touch anything metal) and swap it round, then make sure it seats properly when you put it in.
If you still have 860meg, it's possibly a dodgy ram chip. Right click "my computer", select "manage" and look in device manager for anything with a yellow "!" or a red "X".
Also, how much RAM does the PC say you have when you boot it up?
