Default My Sapphire Cosworth J22 COS

Brief spec-

Engine

RS 500 throttle body
RS 500 8 injector setup
RS 500 intercooler
Mocal oil cooler
Pectal Super 8 ecu setup by turbosystems
7.2-1 Compression Ratio
Reprofiled Cams
MD116 Hybrid turbo
Bottom end lightened and balanced by mountune
Group A head gasket
6 studded block
Various shiny bits
Some lines replaced with aeroquip
Bespoke Collins Exhaust

Transmission

AP 4 paddle clutch

Suspension

Konis on front
Spax on rear
Unknown springs
Fully polybushed
Group A strut brace

Brakes

Tarox 6 pot conversion with 305mm rotors

Wheels

16" Super T's

Overall the car is straight and clean, it only has 45 000 miles on it (around 10 000 on the engine after its rebuild.)

Has original panels, but as you can see in the pics (camera shows it up worse than it is) the wings have been painted due to stone chippage. That about the only thing that is annoying my about the car, so i'm thinking about getting the entire front end redone sometime over the winter.

I am waiting for a standard cambelt cover, battery cover and oil filler cap to be delivered so i can get rid of the stinking stainless items that are on the car! I also want a proper set of matching hoses for it as the ones on it are a bit of a miss match - The genuine RS 500 airfilter hose will be staying though! Also want to relpace the header tank with a proper Bailey 4x4 one - i have a Rwd tank for some reason.

So to sum up, its a good base to start from - all i need to do is add my own touches.

Cheers guys

I know this needs a bit of work, but that doesn't bother me. I had narrowed my choice down to two cars when i was looking for a cossie - this one or L20 COS - the 47K mile black one. I went for this one because of the engine spec , i know L20 is probably in far better condition, but i'm not a bufty, i'm a driver and i'd only have put miles and mods on L20

Thought i'd update this thread!

Well around october last year, i had a slight mishap at work lol, which resulted in this -

A compressor was kindly bounced off my bonnet :P

So this was bought

Brand new bonnet from Ford

I also manged to get brand new door mouldings, well all apart from the drivers wing and passenger rear door. Got new window weather strips and a new bumper splitter.

What started out as a simple repair ended up with me deciding to get the entire front sprayed - right into the rear doors.

Left the car down to the bodyshop at the start of feb and still don't have it back 4 MONTHS LATER!!! Gotta love painters!:P

This is how it sits as of today - new bonnet on and painted, bumper off and rubbed down, door mouldings and weather strips removed.

The car was being rubbed down as a i left and is being painted on wednesday.
It looks a bit sorry for itsself lol

Door tops are prone to rest on sapphs, mine are out of the box (apart from one tiny spec of surface rust)

I'm also getting the inner lip of the wings and the slam panel repainted satin to tidy things up and retain the standard finish. The seam sealer between the slam panel and wings is being redone too. My car has original wings and panel, but at some point they were repainted and whomever did the sealer needs shot lol, its a hash job (N)

I've also changed a few bits in the engine bay as well.

Binned the spec r belt covers for a mint originals, got rid of the swirl pot, fitted a genuine RS 500 cooler and inlet pipe. Bought a roose hose to fit between the cooler and t34, finished in the RS 500 style, bought a full compliment of blue roose coolant/anciliary hoses. Lastly i bought a pro alloy header tank and a set of vibratechnics engine mounts.

I also fitted a poly rear beam mount - whata difference that made! Really tightened the car up!

Oh and i replaced the 16" super t's with 17's.

I'm due to get the car back this weekend (at last!!!) i'll give it a good clean and once i've got my new bits fitted i'll take some up to date photos and post them up.

Oh sorry should have been more clear lol, i just replaced the 16" super t's with 17" super t's lol. I love that wheel but the 16s were just a bit too small!

I've been on at the painter for ages, but you can't really rush them. I know he does very good work and i trust him not to be out ragging my car, so i didn't want to take the car elsewhere.

Cheers guys!

I got the drivers front and drivers rear door mouldings and both front weatherstrips from ford no problem! I had the rest of the mouldings on order, but they were taking forever and a day so i bought them from fleabay instead. The onlt moulding not serviced by ford anymore is the drivers wing. rest can still be ordered!

I'll dig out FINIS codes for you later if you want them?

It lived in Scotland for around 8 years, so you may have seen it? Had lots of work carried out by RJM in Glenrothes?

Bit of an update!

Was down today to look at the car, its nearly finished! The car itself has been sprayed, new bonnet on, slam panel painted. The doors have been built back up, using new seals where possible. I managed to get all but the front driver wing moulding brand new these are yet to be fitted as the car is due another buff.

Just the bumper and some plastics left to be sprayed and fitted.
Picking it up on saturday.

It was very dull inside so i couldn't get decent photos
