rear springs on Sorpio? sagging?
is it common for them to loose their spring rate? I took my springs out today and replaced them. I found out they are factory ford, and look kinda new (no rust), but my rear end was sitting pretty low even with nothing in it. put a darn toolbox back there and the suspension travel is pretty much gone.
this is on an 86 4x4. I notice alot of socrps sit lower in the back but this was crazy enough to make me believe that it was done to it. Not even signs of cutting or heat.
Was there a trick way back when of putting like sierra springs in to lower it or something?
I have noticed the later the scorp and sierra the better the suspension got.
I havnt done the front springs yet which are infact some kind of none ford (purple in color). right now though the car corners funny, the winter tires dont help either.

Springs do get softer with age, but as to any others fitting I don't know as never done it.
I assume it will be springs just from other fords though, so you could always get a sporty kit to go on ?

what you mean by "sporty kit"?
the springs I am putting on are hypercoils. and of my choice spring rates.
just thought it funny that with factory springs the car has sagged sooo much. more than any other scorpio I have seen.

By sporty I just mean the normal uprated ones, with decent dampers.
My bro used to have many moons ago a "M" reg scorpio cosworth(auto), which to be honest I liked but the suspension was awful, to the point it did seriously frighten me when being in it, it was all over the place, even on a cossie model, and would be the first thing to change if it were mine.

depends on tires and the condition of the car. I had a 2.0 DOHC scorpio that handled great on factory suspension. put some cheaper tires on it and the car felt sloppy. was just the tires though. took me a month or two to get used to it.
