cool

yeh il be replacing everything, oil pump etc.

but will be keeping standard internals. ive done all the research i can on doing the conversion and it seems straight forward. but do you know of any step by step guides.

ive seen the online one that was written around 2002, but thought there might be a few short cuts that can be taken since that one lol

yeah skimming them only reduces the strength of a part that is on its limits anyway, by glueing the de comp plate to the block with wellseal or something similar increases the block height, lowering compression and retaining the strength of your pistons.

no i bet you did just by machining the pistons (pinking), thats probably because you didnt take enough off them, i had the same problem on one i did without a decomp late.

ive got an old ferriday engineer zvh decomp plate in the garage i never got round to using (it came with a tube of wellseal which i used on my zetec turbo decomp plate), if your in or near essex perhaps you'd like to make an offer for it i doubt i'll ever get round to using it,

edit :- its for an 1800 zetec and its made of mild steel
