Default Lexus IS - Advice please

Hi all, anyone know much about these?

What are the models to go for, engine size etc

My mate wants one, he has around 6k to spend, what sort of thing should we be looking for and what to look out for??

Any help would be cool.

Matt

My mate will really only want it to waft about in to be far, the odd blast but he drives a 1.5 DCi clio so speed clearly isn't a priority

Looking at a 2000 plate with around 50-70k on the clock i think.

Just wondered if there are some main fault to keep an eye out for??

I've always liked em but found the performance, especially low down gutless. Once you get going its fine but I think they only have 140hp or something. The import Altezza's are slightly better with the BEAMS engine but slightly dearer to buy. Very pretty looking though.

Take a look here you may find the answers!

yeah dont buy from there, seem really overpriced on there. Best way is either auction if he aint fussed about mileage or autotrader. Pistonheads is good but again possibly a bit dearer. A lot of people who own them are slightly older people so probably have only heard of autotrader and not other sites / forums

yes, must admit the owners sites and pistonheads do have some dreamer on there, plus, enthusiast can mean the owners are abit excitable on the throttle on a regular basis

I drove my mums one today. Its nice Very nice car to totter about in. Perfomance isnt too hot but its not too shabby, its RWD and the engine makes a mental noise above 4k.

Top cars!
