After trying everything to get that bloody wheel nut off and damaging the wheel slightly trying to drill it out, I decided to set my dad on it with an angle grinder. It got the bloody thing off Unfortunately it didn't do the wheel much good. All because some twat in a garage over tightened it

Whats your Dads solution for a sunrof that doesn't work? Make the car a convertible

TBH what he did was pretty dumb. Theres ALWAYS a way to get locking wheel bolts off. without damaging the wheel. Even if they are wanked up to 500NM.

mikee_rs - I took it to kwik fit and they couldn't get if off with their airguns so they tried a massive extension bar and it sheered the nut off. It was on so tight that even heating / hammering on a smaller socket etc wouldn't shift it.

I tried drilling it out but it damaged the recess slightly so I wouldn't have risked using the wheel again.

Rich_w - my dads an engineer and believe me we tried everything. Kwik fit recon they've never had a nut on so tight and I can believe that. My dad could probably have drilled it out sucessfully but I had a go and ended up taking out some of the actual wheel recess where the nut sits. Hence the wheel was pretty much knackered so I decided to go for the quickest solution to get it off!

best way to have ghot it off would have been locking wheel nut remover, they have a reverse thread resulting in the grip on the nut getting tighter the harder you try to undo it, never let me down.

if you snapped one of the nuts off, why not try the same thing with the others when you got home?
all you need is a set of new studs and nuts and it wouldn;t have been so messy
