Default Just got my FRS back from being repaired

After some twat hit the wing a few weeks back. Got them to do the wing, bonnet and bumper. Pretty happy!

Should I just wax new paintwork or Zymol it?

I've always been under the impression you don't wax or polish it for at least 2 months after a respray...

but then once painted they flat mop and polish the panels anyway?

to be honest ive allways polished panels not long after paint, sometimes it may have to have another quick mop and polish a few days later, i can undertsand painters saying it as it safe guards them, deffo no car washes but cant see how a polish would hurt it

It is to do with pressure on the paint as it will NOT be dry underneath the top layers all the way through yet.
If you were to press on it hard it would leave a mark.

Anything that is JUST a polish is fine just be gentle, anything that contains glaze, sealant or wax is a NO NO as it forms a seal, you don't want this whilst the paint is still curing. Best to leave it a couple of months. I had my front end reprayed at the beginning of the year and this is the advice the bufty guru (Gaz7) gave me!

If you polish the paint, with anything other than a cutting compound etc, the paint will not be able to gas-off correctly and will cause the laquer to lift.

Leave it alone for 6-8 weeks, aand keep it clean. I wouldn't even use a compound on it, as it looks like the bodyshop has done that already.

You could use something PURE on it, like the pure caranuba wax Clarkson was eating on one of the old top gears. That stuff allows the paint to breathe, but it's 7k a tub....

Looks like an excellent bit of work, so don't spoil it with some Meguiars..
