Hi all i have got a escort 3 door 1.3(ok dont take the mic) on a k plate mk5b and i have just been given 1.6 cvh carb engine with 40.000 on the clock my question is this is it realy worth all the work to swap them over and the 1.3 dos not have anti roll bars fitted to the front so will i have to fitt them??? to make the car save any help will be great as am sitting looking at this engine not realy sure what to do thanks shaw109

Is the 1.3 a hcs lump or cvh?

If you are after extra power why not tune the 1.6 first before it goes in ?
I would in any event fit it(1.6) as extra torque will be good, and have lots more tuning potential.

hi Frankie it's a 1.3 hcs will the 1.6 go in?? i have been told that the gearbox will fit and the drive shafts will be ok need the loom and ecu but is it realy that straght forward to do and will i need to fit anti roll bar to the front as the 1.3 do not have them thanks again shaw109.

Are the starters on the same side on both engines? Blakey on here does an adaptor plate for the different engine mounts which will prob help you.Use it to do the same thing on Kas.

Hi frankie yes the starter is in the same side on both engines i thought the mounts would be the same starting to sould like a lot of work to change this over what about the wire loom is that a straight swap sorry not a 100% on what to swap and how to do all of it thanks again

wirng is easy my mk4 had the hcs engine then a cvh engine then a hcs again you only need to adjust a couple of wires

put a 1.8 cvh in there. :-D

I was going to tune my 1.8, but then decided the OHC was the better choice (sierra). Not sure if a 1.8 would fit though.
