Hi... just bought an escort 1.6 p reg 57k on the clock....

After having a frency car i will say never again.... always stick with the oval!.. had a saxo 1.1 and the head gasket blew.... then it had an idele problem.... then the faul pump went.... and then the head gasket went again!!! pure rubbish!

Was driving it tonight.... in town the temp gague was between the r and the m in 'NORMAL' but when i took it out on the open road... the temp gague dipped into the white section and sometimes off the scale...

is this normal??

The engine sounds ok temp wise, just the gauges do act a bit quick, yours sounds like it may need a new temp sender, my dads mondy runs around the A a lot in traffic, but goes down to O when along open road.
