Daz's Dolly alternator packed up!

Said he was at about 165mph on the top speed and it just cut out.

Rainbird had commented that on the Handling course Daz was seen doing a reliant robin impression...

He doesn't know what the 1/4 time was but I dont think he had many runs because of it.

Karls bro ( Paul in the "COSBEAM" ) has mostly been on the handling course all morning but Daz was quite vague about times and such.

He seemed quite gutted- something about starting on the beers now.

surely an alternator is easy to sort?! Or charger and run it on battery for the few seconds it's on boost!!!

 

Maybe that might be worth risking on a 50quid engine... but on something slightly more expensive and under a bit more stress- prehaps not the best of ideas...

In fact having driven my last cossie with a fuked alternator- its not a good thing to do at all.

Its too late for this event but I can run with a dead alternator using the accuvolt it supplies 15v until the battery drops below 9v. An alternator failure is bad news on a Topspeed run .

 

Mk2 golf ran a 11.5 before i left and 2 Mr2 turbos running low to mid 10s

Team Vauxhall have turned up in there droves

Deffo think the event has lost something when you see Roger clarke motorsport have more money in there new support truck than most competitors have in there cars

 

No only low 10's IIRC, about a 10.4 over there and about a 10.8 when it came here?

just got back and there were 3 fords in it i think when i left a dodge viper was winnin top speed at 203 mph a kitcar with a turbo busa engine in it was fastest on handling and as above for quarter mile roger clark laid down a faster time on quarter mile than simon norris too.

i was dissapointed in the lack off fords though but good day out first time i been

 

That's probably Joel English then is it? Think he's ran 215mph according to Rod IIRC but I don't know in what distance.

 

yeah think that is him top speed is only a max of 1.25 miles

apparently keith in his mental skyline broke the 0-300km record

from the gtr board

To win it you have to be there.
Once there you have to complete the event.
So I will withdraw my remark cos I did neither .

Sorry mate just checked it was only a mile, big difference running 203 in a mile than 1.25. Thats fast would deffo not have beaten that.

 

Was a fantastic day,shame about the lack of fords but the ones that did turn up ran virtually faultless all day.....

Keith Cowie did the 0-300km record but killed the car doing it(Not sure what failed)
The Viper was awesome,and the yellow peril Jun skyline was pretty entertaining too...
The Clark motorsport scooby died before the final too.. ......Andy forest`s subaru was incredible,winning the 4x4 final from Simon Norris with a 9.2

Oh and Tibs car went well all day,he had a few problems getting of the line from what we could see,but managed to get into low 11`s.....

 

And a huge big up to Clive Seddon and the boys from RC Developments,after sticking the car into the wall at Knockhill yesterday and virtually totalling the front end,the team worked all afternoon and well into the evening to get it half straight and running again......they didn`t leave knockhill until well after midnight,getting to Scotch Corner at about 5 am.......after a couple of hours sleep,they then made it to TOTB for just after 8 am and finished the car in time for the start....
The car ran well all day despite looking decidedly second hand,and managed to get into the semi finals of the 4x4 class.......think Clives best time was a 9.95.......

Oh and it`s the first time they have dragged it....
