The RSI head has larger inlet and exhaust ports then the XR3 for beter flow, you can see the difference as the XR one has square exhaust ports and the RSi ones are round. Its the equivalent of the 'stage one' moddified head that most tuning companies offer

The RSi also came with a better cam, solid lifters and double valve springs to compliment the head work

Valves are the same size, the valve throats are bigger on the 16i

Solid lifters and a hotter cam

Plus its all attached to a much better car

I think only the exhaust ports are larger . otherwise it would need more rich mixture (fuel-air)

Contrary to what was said above the ports are the same size as an RST/xr3 head...the throats are a bit larger in a 16i that is all

Ports have been reworked on inlet and outlet to get a better flow, and they are bigger on the outlet. Never looked onto the inlet of my RSi head. It came with a hotter cam (272°), solid lifters but standard valve springs. Inlet valves have been reworked to get a better flow. And the head has been skimmed so the RSi has a compression of 9,9:1, while the XR3 with the same bottom end has only got 9,5:1
