Default rear calipers(hand brake)

for a while now the hand brake hasnt been working on my car so finally decided to investigate. i bought a seal repair kit from BIG RED brake company £22. quite clearly the thing that operated the hand brake side of the caliper had seized so the spring wasnt releasing the hand brake back off. the calipers were then stripped and was found to be loads of crap in there so everthing was shot blasted, stripped and re assembled and now they are like brand new and operate effortlessly. alot cheaper than forking out £££ on a set of new calipers that i was told it needed. has any one else had these problems before and since they were fixed how long did they last before they needed re-doing?

Sean.

Im currently looking out for new rear calipers so that might help a bit . I can get recons that are like brand new for £65 each exchange from a local motor factors, that might save all the hassle of cleaning, blasting, etc so may go down that route, but its nice to know there is another way
