Default Differences between Zetec S Rear beam and FRST rear beam?

As title really - what are the differences between the too - any pictures of either ones?

H196 JNE has advised me to fit 2 rear anti-roll bars to a FRST rear beam to stiffin the back up, im wondering if this can be done with a zetec s rear beam. Can a zetec s rear beam be fitted with an FRST ARB? Are two ARB's even neccessary with a zetec s beam?

Cheers

The twin roll bar on the FRST is something me and Jano from Oddkidd Creations did to my car for the magazine.

We did a full fitting guide in the July 07 issue. Call our back issues office for a copy

I cant remeber what a Zetec S looks like underneath, i'm sure it could be done.

It can be a little harsh for a road car though

Was down at Ford ordering a few bits. Got the guy at the counter to show me what the Mk5 Fiesta beam looks like on Microcat. There didn't appear to be any bolts/locations to connect the rear suspension struts into the beam?

Can anyone shed light on this? How on earth do people fit thier Mk3/3.5 rear suspension struts to the ZS beam?

Cheers

the shock bolts are jus below the hubs on the mk5 and micro cats view aint no good for them! make sure you get the right mountings for the mk5 beam cos some1 might try sellin ya a mk4 beam with the non parallel mounts

also u could go for the puma racin beam which is stronger i belive? not sure tbh but id go for the puma racin spacers to push the rear out cos the wheels on my Zs sit in to much where as the front wheels r smooth to the wing which i think the mk3s were the same? fronts sit out n rear in?

I welded by original MK3 Rear beam up along the bottom to take the twist out of it, but im wondering now wether it was a good idea.

Cheers for yet more suggestions guys

Mikey - funny that, Rab suggested i do the same to my standard rear beam, im sure it'll be adequate enough for you and just as strong if not stronger than the ZS beam if you've boxed the underneath of the beam off.

Ken - No one has suggested the Puma beam before. Good shout! Will get in touch with Pumabuild and see if there is a difference between the Puma and ZS items.

Hmmmm, ive drove the car a few times since i done it, felt good, completely different handling, Very hard though, have hard shocks though also. But yeah i boxed the bottom off and put more metal on the top corners where they put the metal originally.

do oyu mean on the underside of the rear beam, wereits got a cavity,

is boxxing this recomended,

and how exactly do i fit to rear arbs?

i think ive got a spare one in the garage

when you boxed it i take it you rgot a strip of steel (what thickness) and welded it in? did you stitch it all the way along, or do it like seam welds???

here are some snaps of a MK5 Beam, this is what Im using on my FRST.

you will notice the angle section is thicker, gusset ties are fitted to the end of the angle also.

I decided against fitting any brackets to use my original arb fromt he FRST beam, you do ned some flex in the beam or the car will skip around far tooo much.
