Default things i dind't know

apparently you are not supposed to put eggs in the fridge

and the reason?

egg shells are pourous and the egg itself gets contaminated by the smells inside the fridge

right then, i'll have an eggy egg, but i'll die of salmonella then shall i

anyone here into their chefery and can confirm or deny this? (not the bit about dieing from salmonella, although that's not a risk i'll willing to take, but the egg bit)

There was a chef who used to put eggs next to strong smelling foods like stilton, and once truffle i believe to use in his recipes. There is no harm keeping them out of the fridge, where are they when you buy them from the supermarket...?

You will not catch salmonella if you cook them properly and they are in date.

I think we keep eggs in the fridge as a result of being paranoid about the harm they can do if not right, I have never really thought any more about it, mine are in the fridge!! LOL. If they don't need to be, I will keep them elsewhere.

How many people also don't realise that Milk should only be kept for 3-days after opening, even if the use-by date has a week on it?

Tommy-K, that should be kept in the fridge too apparently!!
