Morning guys

My bro has a 3Litre V6 essex engine in his mark 3 capri with all the V6 running gear and 4 speed gearbox.

what he wants to know is will a ford small block V8 go straight in without changing everything to v8 running gear etc?

also, anyone know the fuel consumption on a small block V8 and roughly what power that will give his as standard?

As far as I know a Ford small block will go in but would require the American spec T5 transmission which in turn I think needs the prop shortening.

Try looking up Capri Racing And Performance aka 'CRAP' they used to do plenty of V8 conversions for Capris.

 

Small block will go in no problem.
BHP depends on year a lot(smog kit), but tune up parts are cheap and they rev well as short stroke.
It will explode the gearbox you have though, if you use VS carbs like a 650 VS you could get high 20's low 30's mpg on a run no problem.
