Default Metal fuel line repair advice...

OK, i'm planning on replacing 4-6 inch of fuel line under the car, as it has been crushed and i believe it is restricting fuel a causing the car to run lean.
My question is, can i:
Start the car, pull out the fuel pump fuse, wait till car stops.
Then hacksaw the small section of crushed pipe out ????
And replace with fuel hose.

If i do this am i likely to blow my self up
I was expecting the fuel line to be copper and cut though quite easily with the minimum of bother and no sparks.

Has anyone done this before ???

If your doing that then i would take it complety off and drain petrol has a tendency to burn vigoursly so dont cut it anywhere near the rest of the fuel system

That's what I would try, and make sure to open the end out again after cutting, because the cutter will round it over.

How are you joining the pipe?

Fuel hose and jubilee clips.
Taking out about 4 inch of pipe, so 6 inch of hose will do me.
