Default egt's

anybody else run an EGT?

i am still waiting for my RC 500cc injectors so i am stuck with using the blue injectors from my FRST EFi motor(apparently same as XR3i EFi according to an earlier post?)

been messing around with 0.5 bar boost with a T34 to run it 1000km before taking it to Gotech for a setup

ive set the idling at 10' advance , ramp it up to about 25' at onset of boost at 2000rpm , and then drop it back down to 10' advance at 0.5 bat at about 3500 rpm

im running between 500 to 600'c

this seems excessively hot , my Dellorto side draught motor ran a shit load cooler(at 3 to 4km's/liter!!!!)

ive added as much fuel as possible , but still no drop in EGT

my a/f meter is showing slightly rich at all points under load

car is driveable , but dont want to kill the motor before getting it set up at Gotech

what egt's/boost you guys running?

Where is the sensor? I'm guessing it is in the downpipe? If it's in the headers, then 500-600°c is very good. It's actually a pretty good reading if the sensor is in the downpipe too.

My sensor is in the downpipe and I cruise at around 600°c, rising to 700/800°c on boost. Hard extended boost might see 850°c

Even at idle, after driving, my EGT's are 400°c once stabilised.

righty then , so idling after driving with 400'c is acceptable?
due to space constraints , i have it on the bend on my 63mm downpipe next to my EGT sensor.(about 30cm from the manifold) the downpipe is wrapped with 3m of high temp bandage

made the mistake of checking the working of my Rajay external wastegate(which wastes straight to atmosphere just below the alternator)
with my bare hand - stupid!!!!

the sidies would idle at about 100'c.......

Those temps are fine.

Mine runs 770-800 oC on boost.

650-750 on cruise, and 450 on idle. Egt sensor in Downpipe about 100mm from turbo.

but mine is running a modified xr2 timing setup, as a turbo carb, ignitiion timing is very reatarded on cruise, and below 4000 rpm on boost, and not as advance'd as it could be on idle. So running alot hotter than it could be if advanced.

Looked at my EGT's today,

after a run, and let idle for 1 - 5 mins, = 540oC b4 turbo, 410oC after turbo.
75 mph cruise, = B4 900oc, after turbo 750oC
full go, B4 = 900oC, after 750oC
