Hi all

New to the site and im looking for some advice on restoring my 87 Escort RST mk4.

Ive done a bit of work round cars, mainly helping a m8 that is a mechanic, so im no expert. My plan is for him to lift the engine out and then get the car up on stilts. I then want to work at the car and remove everything else, sand down the bad parts and send the car for a full respray. I'd say there will be some welding to be done but i'll get a professional to do that.

Putting the car back together I will be asking my m8 to help.

This has always been a dream of mine, ever since watching 'a car is born' years ago on discovery. Do you think that someone at my level could undertake such a project?

Hopefully with enough time and a lot of your patience i can get this done.

Seriously though, what should I be thinking of removing first? Looking to get everything sandblasted but not sure where to start.

There is a rally stage being held locally next week, ive always noticed RS Owners club have some cars on display. Ill bend their ears for a bit aswell.

 

Best thing is just to look through the restos on here and look how people have gone about it ,also do it a section at a time ,engine bay then perhaps under body then exterior bodywork
