Just found out one of my trailing arm bushes has buggerd up, does any one have any advice on changeing em, wheres the best place to get em from i was thinking of poly bushes. or would it be easier to buy new arms or standard bushes.

 

Standard Bushs are better as they are rose joints, Getting them is difficult now though. I am in the same boat with one on mine thats not in the best of health.

 

Yep, have had that experience ...
Had to replace bushes on both trailing arms ... took me about a week of evenings after work to get the old bearings out ...

Had to cut them out bit by bit with a hack saw, and then hammer and cold chisel them out ... tiring and long job.

Replaced them with polys ..

My trailing arm bushes/bearings were totally worn out so i changed them to poly bushes.
I stripped the rear beam off and got the arms in the press at work..they slid out a treat

well lucky for you having them slide straight out

i had a coont of a job gettn the bastards out, had to cut the rubber away
from them so i had something solid to push against in the press, after doing that i put the trailing arm in the press only to find it was to big
to get in there
so i ended up using two sockets the right size,put it in a big bench
vice an swung off a big peice of pipe to get them to pop out
what a mission, really hope i never have to do it again.

dont use the oe bushes get some powerflex polybushes, much better.

and for advice on changing them, i hope you have big muscles in your arms lol, just stick at it till ya get em out

 

I always change them(when needed) for poly, only ever found ONE cossie with them in so far.

whatever you do, it's a rear beam out job so make sure you have plenty of time spare

and, if you are going to do one side, do the other side as well because it saves loads of hassle

also worth shelling out for some braided hoses for the rear and flushing the system, you've got to bleed the brakes anyway so you might as well do the whole rear end in one go

 

Not looking forward to that then But ill have to have a go. Once the old ones are out is it quite easy to put new ones in, also ive seen somewhere that sells poly bushes and it says sold in pairs, does that mean a pair for one side meaning ill need 2 pairs?

 

i think there are 2 sizes on the rears, but don't quote me on that one

the pair may also mean the 2 seperate parts as they slip in from either side rather than get pushed through the middle like the oe bushes do

price is also a big factor, powerflex is what i'd go for but deflex also do them for about a 10th of the price

i've got a whole rear end sitting in the garage from deflex if you want

 

all you want is a rear trailing arm inner kit and a rear trailing arm outer
kit. comes with 2 sets of each in each kit, s/s sleaves,nuts an bolts an grease, what ever you do, DO NOT FORGET to put the grease on them.

as for fitting them still waiting for my rear end to come back from powder coating, but il let ya know if i get mine in before yours lol.

i even have part numbers here sitting in front of me lol.

just found a shop on ebay thats selling em for 90 Quid for the complete set. Both sides inner and outer. Time to get the old spanners out me thinks

i just bought my replacement from Fords....tbh I didnt realise they were rose joints until I buggered one up pressing it out ready to send the arms off to be powdercoated....new replacement poly bushes promptly got sent back, a trip was made to Ford and the propper jobby ordered on VOR...bout 70quid mind...expensive lesson eh
