how is it best to measure this? i.e when stone cold and at idle or not? cheers

Do it when the engine is at running temp, and you have taken it for a good drive, oil pressure will be at its lowest when It is hot, and that is the most important time

it reads about 50 when hot is this good?

at what engine speed? if on a standard pump and at running speed that be about right!

ps also depends on what type of oil your using to!

If that was a hot idle pressure its very good

Mine is 34psi but mine has a oil cooler as well.

as i worry about oil pressure i have a high pressure pump and on cold its 72 psi when hot its 55psi and on tick over when hot its 32psi is this ok

both figures WOULD suggest that the engine's fitted with a high pressure pump as stated and both figures are vg

seems very good, i have a high presure pump. Runs about 38 psi at idle and around 70 at speed.
