Default Wheels to small and brakes to big..... :-(

PMSL....
Bought brakes for my car last year, nice set of Brembo mono calipers with huge discs, tried to fit them last night and put my nice newly acquired RL7's (17")on afterwards.....Doh, calipers foul the inside of the rim, looks like i'll have to get smaller brakes, cause there aint no frick'n way those wheels are going ANYWHERE!
Never knew 100% that they would defo fit, but now i know they don't.......

I'll post up pics when i find my USB camera lead....

Doh !

People that go out of their way to save a penny on getting wrong kits never learn that it cost them more in the long run

What about hubcentric wheel spacers ?

Hmm i suppose that's an option, it wasn't really the "wrong kit" i just wanted RL7's and a set of 17's came up, they will fit with the old wheels i had before, but i want rid of them. Where can u get the spacers from.

The thing is, by the time you have bought new wheels, fucked around getting the brakes to fit properly, sold your old wheels, wasted hours and hours doing all of it, Why not just spend a bit extra and save all the hassle? It will probably work out about the same money give or take a couple of hundred quid anyway

its more fun that way though aint it

and seeing as mike has told me that no big brakes at all will fit under my Comps seeing as theyre totally the wrong offset and width, means i still have to mess about getting new wheels regardless.

so its get new wheels and some of Broms brackets for Ł100 = Ł300 set of Brembo's or get new wheels and Ł700 for AP's ( or however much they do actually cost)

hmmmm i can see the relevance of that one

id rather fuck about and save money tbh

I thought about that paul it was one of the 1st things that popped into my head. As for "buy AP's, fit and forget", the brakes I have are better so that's not really what i want to do....

Fair play, they look FANTASTIC on your floor

Think my AP's look quite good behind my wheels to be fair though

What width disc are they designed to be used with? They are a very wide caliper for their size..

I'd guess the diameter depends on the brackets Mark as they look radial mounted

The diameter of the disc is decided by the calipers not the bracket... don't you agree?

you have to run the disc just below the width of the cut out on the calliper body do you not, making sure that your pads are clear with the pistons fully retracted?

Problem I can see here is the low ofset, and the TCA limiting how far the bell can move the disc back, and the wheel limiting how far you can move the bracket out. And are not most if not all decent callipers like brembo and AP's all radially mounted anyway?

you would be into next week the amount you would have to grind off to get themto fit.

- I know, just cut those bits that stick out the side off

Yes, and they've survived 2 track days, and 8/9 months abuse.

It was just curve off an edge, nothing drastic.

brakes hitting your spokes is jebus punishing you for having such weak offsets, jebus likes wheels to fit flush with ther arches, not 3 feet inside.

I have the spec on the somewhere i will have to dig it out as i bought them last year and didn't know much about them so I had to do a bit of research to find out what they actually were, i know the discs are 355's but that's about it.
Here's the pics on car, brakes have been in garage for a while so look shitty, but you get the general idea
