WAIT another few weeks, as a new integrally gated turbo will be being tested on a certain TUV dyno that should be better than the T38 .

This new turbo SHOULD perform a LOT better than the HG specced T38, as Harvey has not been particularly impressed with the torque that the T38s produce. Whereas a normal T34 responds well to a mid-range spike, the compromised design (a ported out T34 with bigger wheels) seems to prefer a flat boost curve and although it gives more power than a T34 - by 20-30bhp - it seems to loose this amount of peak torque as well (making it ideal for 4x4 cars with lightly modded gearboxes though ).

i got the mullit box so it should be ok with whatever i chuck at it i hope
diffs will be replaced when they fail which i know they will

stu said the TT T38 is surge city and the T4 needs to have a ported wastegate etc, which i think the one i had the chance of having hasnt got

No, will definitely need to be live mapped and will need injectors bigger than greys to get the most from it.

To get the most from it yes . If it does as good as the spec suggests, it will do around 460-480bhp / 400lb ft with very good response.

Sounds like a good turbo mike Pity i have a UT T38 waiting to go on my new engine , but i will be watching for the results of the new T4 that Euan is testing as that will prob be the next upgrade if it works out.

Providing you keep the EGTs down to a sensible level, you can have ALS on any turbo. But if the EGTs start to climb, you need it to be able to switch itself off.

Think Mike means because a T38 gives the power with a smoother torque curve rather than a big spike like most big power T34 cars it puts a lot less strain on the box. A T38 car with 400 bhp would stand a chance on a shot peened standard box but a 32 psi spike on a T34 would shock the gears a lot more.
