Default The "prices and available of tuning for my diesel....&q

I know that there are some of these cheapy ebay things out there that actually DO work. (ie they arent just a crappy resistor mod thing)

anyone got any first hand experience of them?

Was looking at this sort of thing:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TDI-Tuning-Chi...QQcmdZViewItem

Just picked up an audi as replacement to my "cheap and cheerful i dont care if it gets crashed into stress free daily driver" (which got crashed into, lol) and wouldnt mind a little more poke if its that simple but im not bothered enough to start messing around in any more depth than that as it will spend most of its life stuck in traffic or cruising down the motorway anyway which is does fine already.

Most of those tuning boxes just adjust thefuelling. So they pump in loads of extra diesel. It will gove you more power, but at the expense of fuel economy and a shit load of soot.

If you go for a proper remap, you'll get more power, better economy and wont need to clean your car every 15minutes.

I was always told and under the impression tuning boxes just dump lots of excess fuel in and that's about it. Where as a remap changes the boost and all kinds of things. So a Tuning box is bad for your injectors as they cause stress etc. I could be talking out my arse here though as It's only what I've been told when asking about them in the past.

Its more boost im looking for ideally, not sure if I can manually adjust that on the actuator or with an MBC if I use one of those to get some extra fuel in on full throttle or not?

Remap would be the best idea im sure, but for how often I am likely to use the extra power there is no point paying much money out to modify it, it really does spend 99%+ of its time either on motorway or stuck in london traffic, and neither of those needs any more than 110bhp anyway TBH, so its not something I want to spend much money on but wouldnt mind a go if it was only the price of a tank of fuel.

LOL, problem is that I do about 1000 miles a week when I go away and have nowhere decent to park, so if I used the 3door or nova or whatever it would cost me a fortune in fuel and I would be worried about it getting nicked etc.

Will have to do it next time I have a weeks holiday or whatever if I cant find a 2nd hand ecu cheap

Depends on original power.
The 130 gives around 25bhp and 40ftlb with better mpg.

Yes, the 8v gives another 25 - 30bhp mate. Same time and cost.
