Can anyone tell me exactly why low comp is recommended for big power/boost aplications?
am I right in assuming it loses power as well as being a bit wank off boost?
If so why not just run higher compression and less boost to achieve the same power? as this would make it more powerful and driver friendly off boost wouldnt it?
Anyone shed any light on it?

Itsmeagain,
if higher comp and less boost worked anywhere near as well at getting you power as lower comp and higher boost thered be no turbos inexistance, just very very high compression

Road fuel, 450/500bhp+, on 2litres, in cyl pressures would be far too high to be reliable at high compression without mega expensive internals.
Thats what the post was asking about from what i can tell, and thats what my answer was about, not 300bhp on a rallycar on (i presume) race fuel.
300bhp is about the max from that size restrictor, so it makes sence to get the car as drivable as poss for the power while still being reliable, so up goes the compression.
But if there was no restrictor you can be damn sure most the competitors would suddenly ditch mega high comp and 300bhp and drop the comp to whatever was deemed nececary to get the mega power (tho less of a drop than on road cars if race fuel is used).
Karls car low comp (VERY), Rods car low comp, everyone in their right mind running pump fuel on a big bhp per litre car, low comp.
Doesnt make it shit off boost really, less punchy, but perfectly driveable, and no need to be punchy on the road at low revs, thats what changing down into a more suitable gear to get you in the powerband is for.
