Axle Stands
Guys Im looking at doing some work under the back of the car and I need some axle stands or something similar that will get the car up to a height so its comfortable to work on whilst in my garage. Ill be looking at taking all the running gear and suspension off for renewal...ill post question on how I can do this later
Does anyone know of anything that would make my life a lot easier by not having to squeeze under the motor and have the floor pan touching my nose.
The car will be on the stands for some time as im not exactly the fastest worker in the world.
Cheers
Neil

I bought some old railway sleepers(2) and cut them up into square sections, I use these to adjust the height as wanted, and a hell of a lot more stable than axle stands, (dodgy things IMO).

The people that sold then to me, for £5 each, said I don't know if they will take the weight, I said do you know how much trains weigh then!!
Even a tiny lightweight train is around 40 tons!!
We used them years ago on my dads artic truck as support, IVECO 190/29(magiruss deutz!!), and that weighed around 6.5 tons, had cab crane on it as well, they didn't flinch.
