Default Kent, Piper, Newman, NMS special grind??

OK guys, are there any discernable differences between camshaft kits for an ERST?

Who uses what, which produces most all out power, which produces most torque?

I used to have a Piper in my old ERST and it only felt like it kicked it from 4k upwards. Obviously, with the fiesta, that would be useless, so I am looking for something with a bit more torque and drivability.

I have recently fitted a newman kit with solid lifters and it performed very well, i took out a piper 285 T that was causing a misfire at 7100 rpm

As they can ALL be the same CAM just made by different people, ie same duration lift etc, it does not follow that one would cause a miss and another not, unless it was faulty, ie worn away, wrongly made.
Most cam makers copy everyone else's anyway.

Tabetha, that is broadly true, but there are some technical differences in the way they are ground too that can (and will) cause these problems.
