Default what car....

.... right a lad in work is after a new car, he wants something quick, max insurance group 17, can be upto 8k maybe 10 if the right car comes along,

he was looking at type r's but has gone off the idea when he got told about the amount of revving he would have to do to get the power.

i have given him a few ideas like, Asrta Gsi mk4, mk4 gti tdi golf, audi A4 1.8t, St170, and an oddball M5 on a 99plate.

any more ideas of cars?

if you can give the good and bad parts about them thanks

all depends on how much he can afford to run it etc....ie an M5 if he is only a kid wud kill him.......

but has he driven a type R yet?? the best thing he could do is actually try them..you should always make your own judgements not take other peoples opinions especialyl when it comes to cars

he's test drove a 52plate typer and his older bro had a st170 a couple of years ago so i think he drove that.

he's 23 but he has only had his licence for 18months and wants quicker car.

st170's - been out for a ride in one, went alright but not as good as i was expecting

astra gsi - its a vauxhall. keep away.

M5 - as billy says, i dont think he could insure it

golf - i'd say yes

audi a4 - a little too grandad-ish? how about an a3?

I'm 24 in 2 weeks, been driving since Feb 2005, live in a low crime area doing 15,000 miles a year social and commuting....including an SP30 speeding fine (40 in a 30mph)

goes down to Ł3666.14 without the speeding conviction

Cupra R, Type R.

Its true you have to Rev the Type R, but thats only when you want to have a play and dont you then rev a car anyway? It drives nice of VTEC etc, ok i admit you have to work hard and cannot ride a wave of torque, but you do get more dramtics with a Type R screaming away. Oh and the engine is bullet proof
