Default Non starter (S2) - help! NOW WITH PICS!

Right

Went out a run tonight, and the cd player stopped working so i nipped into a car park and had a look at the wiring, nothing obvious so thought, fuck it, ill get it another time.

Went to start the car... and nothing? no fuel pump priming, never even turned over. So i checked all the fuses, all fine, made sure everything was at least connected, still nothing

So, phoned a mate, ignition on and we bump started it, got it running, sat for a couple of minutes, then put the fan on (via switch on dash) and the car cut out?

Bumped it again, running fine... flicked the lights on, ready to pull away.. car cuts out?

Right, fuck this, tow rope out, ready to tow it home. Igniton on, hazards on and off we went. mid journey, the hazard lights became VERY weak, and the button was constantly on, i.e. no blinking? at this point i couldnt give a shit, wanted home, so we went home, an left it.

ALL the electrics have became VERY weak, no leccie windows, no central locking, dash lights now very weak and the car wont start at all, no fuel pump priming, not turning over, nothing.

Whats the general concensus then?

Sounds more like an alternator related prob to me.

Couldn't really be the battery I don't think.

Turn the ign on to position 2, see if your battery light comes on
(charge the battery first though bud)

If the light doesn't come on, then your bulb has either blown, or more common (as already suggested) the blue wire will have broken inside the insulation, somewhere along the front ani roll bar by the starter.

See how you get on.

(Ignore the mess please )

Got into it this morning, and had a look. I checked all wires from the alternator to the starter, all seemed fine.

Then i spotted this. If you look at the picture, there is one bolt showing, with no nut or connector attached to it. This bolt is loose, and can be wobbled by hand.

The bolt itself looks very clean, as if something has not long came off it, so im hoping/guessing this is the problem.

1. Is it supposed to be like this?
2. What should attach to it?
3. Is this my problem?

Thanks alot chaps

I see. The blue wire appears to already be connected on the other side of the motor?

If you could have a look at yours it would be much appreciated!

Keep the opinions coming folks, im stumped!
