They were cool.

although we used to do it the home made way by getting a roll of caps (the red paper ones) and wrapping them round a coin or stone, and lobbing them off the multistory

you used to get them plastic rockets youd put caps in the end and throw em for similar effect.

i got hit by a car when i was about 7 running away from someone who threw one at me

we used to buy tons of caps, used to be fun getting the whole reel and going down them fast with a coin, doing the lot.

some were better than others, used to scratch em with your nail to check that, some were fine, some would take half your fucking finger off

not seen them bangers for years, tho obv never looked, but saw some kids with em near work the other week, but thats somerset, so they all inbred and 20years out of date anyhow

I remember sellotaping a load of them to the milkmans float tyres Luckily he had a sense of humour.

Remember the rockets that took the red caps too. And like Chip, came up with some inventful alternative uses for a roll of caps

And then when kids went on trips to france with school they all came back with french bangers that did the job properly.

We then progressed onto making gunpowder (salt peter + suplur + carbon powder) which we used to make into pipe bombs with bits of metal tube.

Then TNT (tri nitro toluene) with chemicals nicked from college

My mate used to play around a lot with chemical fuses (we were a level chem students by this point) and some of them were MEGA sensitive, like a loud bang would set them off, they would then just fizz and give off a bit of heat, and that would be enough to set off a more serious fuse that would lead to an actual explosion, so he could make devices that you activated by slamming a door or clapping.

It kind of got a bit out of hand though and the police got involved

I used to get them when I lived down Doncaster as a kid - from the indoor market place, excuse the lack of knowledge of location but we moved back up here when I was 10 lol

There's plenty of joke shops in Blyth now Neil if you still have any contacts up here ask them about sassy2saucy on the main street
