Default pollishing cellulose before applying lacquer

ive just finished spraying my project car, ive used cellulose paint as i got it on the cheap, im going to apply a 1k lacquer on top of the finale coat of top gloss, ive been told to wet and dry the top surface down else the lacquer may peel in a few months or so! is this true?? the thing is the shine goes and ends up dull, whats th best way to get a really good shine on it before i apply the lacquer, something like a buffer, with some sort of compound??? any help would be great!

if you polish the base coat up then the laq wont stick, it wont have anything to etch onto

God thats old paint, basically when you spray the ground coat on, let it flash off, celullose does dry piss quick, so say 10 mins with a good bit of heat, then spray your laquer on. Then when you polish it a bit of 1500 wet flat paper or 2000 grit, then get some G3 or G6 compound and buff away, but dont expect miracles this is old skool paint.

Yeah basically, but as youve already painted it, just nib the paint that you have already sprayed with some 1500 wet paper obvioulsly not breaking through the paint then get a grey scotchbrite pad and wizz over it to key it up a bit then its ready for a bit of laquer, hope this helps.
