I thought about it and figured this year is the year. If I get a second job, working in a bar or something a couple/few nights a week I could save up, buy a Cossie that needs stuff doing to it (i.e. rolling shell or something) and put in some time and effort and build it up over winter.

Then I thought about it some more and thought what the fuck am I doing? Why don't I get a second job, save some money up and when I've been paying for the Leon 12 months, get a settlement quote for the finance, pay off what I've saved up and then transfer the finance onto a personal loan with a much lower interest rate and keep paying an extra £100 a month or whatever off it til it's cleared......

Get a set of Toyo R888's, better brake pads, fluid and lines and use the Leon on the track.

Get the second job and clear all debts, loans and finance.

 

NO the Cossie idea is dropped, I was thinking about what a good idea it would be then I dunno, I just kinda woke up. Gonna move the Leon finance onto a lower rate loan and pay off as much extra per month as I can til it's all gone. NOT selling the Leon!

Mate, without meaning to sound disrespectful, to my knowledge you've never done a trackday in your life!

As such, why would you want an out and out track car? People seem to think track cars are some sort of fashion statement. They're a pain in the arse, and almost unjustifiable unless you have proper cash, and do a LOT of trackdays.

I was doing 10-15 trackdays around 2004 time and I couldn't even justify keeping mine!

I wouldn't even go as far as Lee suggested. If the Leon is in good working order now, track that absolutely as it is if you're insistent on doing trackdays. You also need to be aware of just how expensive they can be. A full day at Bedford with the day, petrol etc can set me back upwards of £250. Not the hobby to have if you're paying off loans and finance!

Pay off your car and take that on the track from time to time. You may not even like the track, they can be intimidating places and aren't for everyone.

Don't get bogged down with debt on different cars, you will have to spend the rest of your life with debt on a mortgage/wife/kids etc, enjoy now without it.

 

Nah that's what I'm trying to say, I was thinking about it then realised there was no point and it would be a stupid thing to do. I just wanted to let people know I've woken up to reality lol.

I'd love to do trackdays in the Leon, but if I'm honest I didn't realise it could cost as much as that

Jay - that's a cheap day.

High season day at Donno can easily be £175 just for the day.

 

Make a decision without the help of this forum. So many people here can't tie their own bloody shoes without posting pictures and a poll....don't fall into the trap

 

With Tires, Petrol, brakes, wear and tear, breakages etc.... a trackday always costs near to or normally well over £300 I reckon!

 

If you have to take on a second job for anything, then you can't afford it. As people have said live with what you've got. Try putting the same energy into building your career which in the long run will provide more cash than a second job will ever do.

You should be thinking of saving for a house instead of putting all your money into something you could lose at the first bend.

Wire in if you want, but you'll never get out of debt on a scheme like that.

They are expensive .... but they don't have to cost well over £300. It depends on your car to a big extent.

I only do days that cost less than £150 ... petrol usually costs £50 - 60 for the day .. take a packed lunch Wear and tear is usually spread over a few events and on a lightweight car [like mine] a set of tyres will last 4/5 days

Deffo not cheap though!!

And as everyone else has said.....if you can't afford to buy the car you have outright then don't even contemplate getting a track car
