Default Bleedin Puncture!!

Hey all,

Dad's car got a puncture in the nsf tyre. Tyre was about 3 weeks old brand new Bridgestone Potenza R050 run flat and found a fecking massive screw dislodged halfway in it :x . Just wanted to ask if there was anyway of repairing the tyre or bodging it as those tyres are damn expensive!!

If not, can anyone point me in the direction of decent tyre distributors that sell bridgestone potenzas 225/50/R17

cheers

ULTRASEAL the whole car for around £40, can even do it AFTER a puncture and it will fix it, seals up to 5mm holes, also stops slow leaks, so no more having to check the tyre pressure every week.

yeah they are capable of running flat to get you home, then they are fucked. a normal tyre wont get you home thats how they work.
get someone to check it over for damage. depends how far you go on it

Where accross the tyre is the hole? Unless it's on the edge AFAIK you can get a bung put in at any tyre fitters.

So, I found a nail that was the right size and put it in to stop the air coming out and carried on.

the funny thing is, the screw was only halfway in, so I simply screwed it all the way in and it stopped leaking (I can't hear or feel anything) so will see how far that goes. I'll see how that goes, if not, have to fork out for a bloody £200 tyre!

how can you risk that mate

do you have any sense, sorry to be straight to the point but your putting your self and dad at risk!

if your tyre has a punure and you have ran it flat then the tyre is scrap plain and simple

what happens is when that tyre is taken off the rim you will find shit loads of rubber inside do it it wearing on the inside rather than the tread on the tyre, so it could blow out at any god given time

i would get the wheel off and put the/a sparer on it mate

dont drive on that tyre its not worth the risk

Not all run flats are repairable even if you haven't run them flat, best bet is go to a decent tyre shop and enquire.

Thanks for all your help. The car is only driven locally, never more than 40mph or 50mph at any given time. It's going to be replaced on Saturday and fitted with a new one

Use ULTRASEAL and you don't get flats, the demo I saw had over thirty 5mm holes put in tyre and it lost less than 1 psi, I was there at the time and did the holes myself so there was no fiddling going on.
This stuff has all the approval marks for PERMANENT REPAIR, it is also used in places such as NI , so spike planks don't work.
I have had it in tyres for over 20,000 miles without a problem, until they are worn out.
A lot of bikers use it also, and has been tested at 256 MPH so a cossie will not worry it, I know of someone who wrote a piece on the stuff when they had it fitted in their BMW bike and went all over the desert, which is puncture city, no problems at all.
Ask yourself what you would rather do change a wheel on the M25 motorway in the pouring rain, whilst all the traffic goes past, carry on and possibly shred your tyre and have an accident anyway, but alt least cost you a tyre and time, or wait until a nice day and just pull out the screw or nail etc ?, easy choice for me you make your own mind up.
This stuff is considered a permanent repair by the standards people, I have had a tyre that had a 8mm bolt in it, pulled bolt out and did over 10,000 miles after.
As to get it fixed for £5 show me where, the one I had done for a freind was £16.87, which is half the price of a ULTRASEAL.
These quick fit places are full of crap advice as they push the industry to try and get ever tighter legislation passed so they sell more tyres.
THEY ARE CURRENTLY TRYING TO HAVE ALL PUNCTURE FIXES ILLEGAL, on any tyre for a road vehicle, not just high performance ones.
Repairs are so dangerous, ALL LARGE AIRCRAFT LAND ON REMOULDS, we ARE talking 747 etc here.

I am at this very moment waiting a return call from a supplier, should be within the hour so will post some contact details for you and anyone else who wants them.
I used it originally on my m/bike as used to do off road TRIALS all the time, and never had a problem with punctures after using it!!
Easy to DIY just puit measured amount in tyre then drive around 5 miles to evenly distribute it, can cause a very small amount of out of balance to start with but goes after 5 miles or so.

£200 buy's an awful lot of tyre.
Have to assume it's the type of car that dictates ownership means you should
have enough dough not to be whinging about buying a tyre.

its going to be new tyre fitted and balanced. and its going on a new BMW. The tyre was only 4 weeks old as BMW put a new one on it when dad bought the car. Just annoying that it was the brand new one that got a screw dislodged in it.

Ahh well. Found a place that does em for something like £160 so going to buy it and get it fitted from our mechanic and balanced as well.
