how can a car like a ford escort increase in value after time?

even RS500s dont fetch more than the original pricetag!

would much rather pay 20k for the minter at jct28 which has just sold and got 7k on the clock from new! at least you would feel like driving it, with 300 miles on it i wouldn't dare drive it anywhere!

if you found a 500 with the same miles on it, it WOULD fetch alot more than the original price!

I know of a concours one that went for 24k but was valued at 28k by the RSOC. It had 14k on the clock and was completly standard

This car has been for sale for ages!!!!!

And he just keeps putting the price up and up and up...

To be honest it's not perfect either, it may have only done 300 miles but it wasn't that well looked after during those miles, I've seen better examples that have done over 40000!!!

like i've said before and people above have also....

i dont think milage is that importeant at all - its the condition and how well its been looked after, and the two go hand in hand, its obvious to see if a cars cared for and plain to see the condition, the think with the cossie is, its not the end of th world if you have to recon the donkey or box, as long as the bodywrok is tip-top, it could have 300 miles on it and go pop the 1st time you push it hard.

I don't give a fuck if it has -300miles It ain't worth more than the original selling price

what were the new? £20k? £25k?

£30k is a joke

Look at it this way - you got £30k in your hand and you want a performance car. What ya gonna buy? an 8yr old second hand Escort or a brand new Mitsi Evo FQ300?

Hmmmmm, hard choice that

i can see how a mint 100% unmolested car with v low miles could be a collectors item - but only for the rich and insane in my eyes, there are tycoons that will store all saorts of cult cars. and how can you say a can can naver be worth more than its new price?!?! what about the ferarri GTO etc these boys bring around the 1 MILLION quid mark, and they were not a 100th of that new!!

an evo 6 TME might well hold its price as it too is a classic. but tru, i paid 21K for a mint evo 6 , only 3 years ago, 2 years ago wheni got stopped, i sold it for 18K and now you can pick the same spec /condition car up for 12K, LESS than i paid for the escos, BUT i had a look in an old parkers guide from 97, nack then escos's were at 14-17 K , 7 years later still up at teh same price.

So your gonna spend £30k on that Escos and then not drive it for another 10yrs? You won't be able to drive it if you want to keep it on that mileage

Waste of money, far rather have the Evo and I won't be keeping it for 10yrs either, don't like keeping cars longer than 3yrs anyway

Ah but I already have an Escos so I could drive that one, if I had 30k to burn then why not, small investment and something nice to look at in the garage

So you already have an EsCos, yet you want to WASTE £30k on an Escort you WON'T drive, and in ten years will be lucky to sell on at the price you paid for it?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, makes sense

Thrush i think ya talking bollox. Id spend 30 k on a escos before a evo wether new or not. Evos look wank...escossies look sex and have road presence like no other car in its price range. If i had 30k now in my pocket and the escos was like new...id buy it....and if they were still making em and they were 40k new id borrow the extra 10k .

if its makes you happy to go in the garage & takes off the covers every now and then good luck to you! (can imagine myself sitting in the seat making brum brum noises!! )

but its not my cup of tea & i can think of a lot better ways in how to invest 30k in order to make a profit over 10 years!

Don't get me wrong if thats what floats ya boat then fine go ahead but I can't understand buying a car at well over the original (8yr old) new price to only have it sit in the garage doing fuck all, specially if you already have one anyway....

I sure do agree that they have a much "harder" road presence and look far better than any Evo so far, but truth be told, the Evo is a better car (IMO )

Sorry but I see the Escos as a £10k-15k "fun" car, and don't come into the £20k+ catergory as there are far better cars for the money in todays market

But whats profit got to do with owt? Plus, if i had 30 k SPARE, id buy it and use it...there'd be no covers on it in garage and it would get used. Notch up maybe 20k on it, it would then be worth about 18-20 k if MINT! So id lose 8-10k. What NEW car could you buy for 30k and not lose about 10k on it over a few years?????

IMO if you have got 30k to spend on a car then ya in a position not to worry about how much money you lose!

Hell my uncles last Audi A8 was 58k new, 4 years later it sold for 10k Same as this m5 hes got now, 64k with all jobbins sat nav etc, 4 years old soon....what will that be worth....fook all

Better figure on a bit more coin to replace all the rubber bits and seals

There's no way I'd pay that kind of coin for a garage queen

but if you had that much money , the sort of money that if you dropped a tenner on the floor, it woulf not be worth your time to pick it up as you've earnt it back in interest in the time it took for you to think, bollox to it...... you would , just becuse you could, i would anyway
