Any fridge experts?
No idea if anyone can help but its normally a helpful forum
My home fridge/freezer is playing up, basically the fridge part is getting too cold and slowly freezing the food in there.
Have cleaned all ice out (which helped for about 2 days) and hoovered the rear heater element thingy (just)
Its only 3 years old and was VERY expensive!!
Any help?
Cheers

there wil be a temp sender in there soemwhere which has probably gone tits up
speaking of fridges, mines is making some funny noises, it's loud enought o keep the mrs awake at night and it sends vibrations through the house, i think it might be time to get a new one

It was fine for about 2 years then started playing up so should be set right anyway...
what make and model?
is it still in the same place in house?
possibly it has iced up inside if its a combi fridge (i.e. fridge freezer)
hard to do but if can fully defrost and turn off maybe enough to free it.
but as said stat could be playing up

the airduct to the frezzer compartment is that clear of food?? if not remove food from that section! cold air falls if its blocked it will just frezze that compartment and whats above!! secondly is the compressor constantly on as in always running?

i've got the samsung yank double fridge/freezer and, other than the aftermarket filters being crap, it's not issed a beat in nearly 2 years
Get a multimeter mate and check the voltage across the thermostat.
Also is the compressor running all the time? it would also
suggest that the stat has shorted out and will need replacing.
Just an idea from me and my supervisor who is teaching me all about
comercial refridgeration lol

true but depending on the refridgeration system type a slightly under gases system will cause extended compressor running time hence the fridge will get too cold.also uneven frosting or ice build up on the backwall/evaporator is a indication of loss of gas.
mechanical thermostats either work or they dont, usually go open circuit, ive never had one go out of calibration
if the system runs on a pcb/thermistors set up you will have to get the resistence values from the manufacturer to test the thermistors

No idea where thermostat is or what it looks like!!?
if its a non frost free model it should have a mechanical thermostat with capillary with either 2 or 3 terminals,im sure your thermostat is ok just check the end of the capillary is making good contact with the back plate/evaporator.
whats the model number of the fridge freezer?
thermostat is the knob with 1 to 5 on it,set to 1 and check it cycles on and off,if it does i would stick my neck out and say its a tiny amount undergases.probably requires a tiny squirt of r134a/r600.
always difficult to diagnose without looking at it

it can only ice up if the thermostat is set too low, the airflow is blocked, or the thermostat is no longer in the correct place. low refrigerant as a fault on it's own cannot cause icing
