Anyone gone back to an old job?

Doesnt matter how long the gap was, just wondered if anyone has done what I'm thinking of.
Job going at my old place (small engineering firm) as a shop floor foreman type role, guy who's job it is has bought a share of the company and moving up to one of the directors, popped in today to see them all and he mentioned it would be worth me applying as I probably would of got the job if I was still there (left 5 years ago)
I'm very intrested but a bit nervous about taking on such a role, anyone gone back and enjoyed it? current job is shit but decent money and would be taking a considerable pay cut but gaining 10x the job satisfaction.

ive never gone back to an old job, but i did apply for a job that was a payscale less than mine purely on the fact that the job satisfaction was more important to me than the salary
if you can live with the paycut and would be generally happier in the job i would say go for it, but it depends which is more important to you personally
job satisfaction or salary???
id rather have a great job and happy life on not as good money than a shit job on great pay
you can always work your way back up
i say go for it

Its alright earning loads of money, how are you supposed to spend it if you're always at work? or cant go out because you're on nights? or you've got some prick treating you like a 16 year old school leaver? etc etc, the list is endless.
Infact I think I've just talked myself into it.

you need a life outside of work, and if working loads of hours and seeing nobody is what you enjoy then stay where you are
id rather be happy in a decent job i enjoyed than stressed to fcuk in a crap one thats paid well

thats my point! they all shit, and even the good ones are shit, so id rather have money to make the out of work time as good as poss than get paid fuck all in a desperate attempt to make work time a little more bareable.
if both jobs paid ok, then fair enough go for the one a bit less, but ive never had good wages either.
ive gone back to an old job twice now, its alright, especially if you got on with the people there and theyre still there. always a very welcoming atmosphere for the first few weeks. ive enjoyed it both time tbh.
i agree that having spare time and being happy is more important than the money, but depends on what scale. if i had the choice of a job i enjoyed, with people i liked on 10ka year, and a job i hated, people i hated, on 40, id struggle to choose the first!

) and overtime, I think my current basic is about £19.5k but I obviously have to work shifts and compulsory overtime.
