Doesnt matter how long the gap was, just wondered if anyone has done what I'm thinking of.

Job going at my old place (small engineering firm) as a shop floor foreman type role, guy who's job it is has bought a share of the company and moving up to one of the directors, popped in today to see them all and he mentioned it would be worth me applying as I probably would of got the job if I was still there (left 5 years ago)

I'm very intrested but a bit nervous about taking on such a role, anyone gone back and enjoyed it? current job is shit but decent money and would be taking a considerable pay cut but gaining 10x the job satisfaction.
