Hi people ive replaced the drivers side front wheel bearing on my cossie 4x4 n ive just took it round the block n the brake pedal feels rubbish n the abs light staying on.If i pump the pedal whistle driving i can hear a clicking noise from the drivers side. I put a post on here about doing my wheel bearing n someone said i bet the abs light stays on.If u pump the brake pedal up the pedal seems 2 go hard.Ive jacked the drivers front up n the wheel doesnt have any movement in it. Any help wud b nice.

Just had another quick look at my car when u hold the brake pedal down its seems 2 click then move a bit.Ive used a multi meter n checked for resistance on the drivers side front n there is none compared 2 the passenger side.So does that mean the ABS is nackered does the abs system do a check of all the sensors before the light goes off.

Well now i can get my abs light 2 go out now but when i drive slow at about 10 20 mph n braking the pedal seems 2 pump on ur foot as if the abs is kicking in. Ive checked the resistance on the abs plugs on the front the drivers side resistance is slighty higher than the passenger side. I was taking 2 a bloke today n he said it cud rather b the abs ring on the drive shaft or the air gap between the sensor n the abs ring. An help wud b nice.

well im thinking about letting a abs specialist look at it cause i just want it sorting now .It worked mint before will let u know what happens mate. Was ur car ok n did u change something on the car to cause the fault.

All sorts can cause faults on the Teves Mk2 system. Can (as said above) be set off by a misaligned wheel or knackered wheel bearing which causes the toothed rotor to become misaligned under the sensor.
9 times out of ten it's the sensors, but bear in mind it's not just the sensor resistance that you need to check. The sensors create an AC current because they are inductors, this creates a sinewave which is what the ECU watches.
Did you also measure the resistance at the ABS ECU multiplug?
There are 3 relays in the ABS system - I've replaced 2 of mine, one not through choice.
Fuses are also a good place to start - the two behind the dash are the main power fuse and pump fuse. The ABS pump relay, which is what makes the pump 'buzz' when you turn the ignition on, and when the pressure's been depleted through use, is the small purple one behind the glovebox - it also has a 30 amp fuse connected, which is what popped my brakes not so long ago; brakes stopped working and pedal was rock hard. The main ABS power relay is the green one, with a 20 amp fuse attached..
They are also sensitive to the level of brake fluid in the system. If the level sensor's failed, that'll create a fault. Somewhere I have a Teves Mk2 diagnostic routine, which may help you out - tells you what voltages/resistances etc should be where. I'll dig it out for you guys.
BTW, my ABS light comes and goes as it pleases - all the electrics check out, and I've had two ECUs on it as well!

Yeh ive checked the resistance at the abs sensors connector its just getting on my tits n i just want it 2 b back 2 normal cause it was sweet as a nut before i changed the hub n the hub carrier.i noticed that my brake fluid level was high due 2 me fitting new pads. But ive emptyed it out 2 the correct level now.

or did you not put the abs ring back in when it all went back together again?
the buzzing in the abs system puping itself back up to pressuer again so it's supposed to do that but if it goes to the floor then it's loosing pressure and needs to be looked at in a serious way
get the sensor out and see if the ring is there first

My brake pedal is nice n hard now the front brake pads were worn at an angle cause of the wheel bearing . I checked n cleaned the abs ring on the drive shaft cause it was full of grease n crap. Its only when ur driving at about 10 to 20mph n slowing down this is when the pedal pumps on ur foot n the abs light stays off. Does any one know how much a cv joint will cost for the osf drive shaft. Im thinkin it might b this.
