check for water in the pistons, and if any the valves are bent. The head will need reskimming before you refit it and a headgasket kit

1 did it overheat
2 did you run it out of water

then you want to be finding the reason the gasket failed before fitting a new one if thats the case or it'll probably just do it again!

hmmmmmm..............
I've just stripped the engine down (thought i might as well do piston rings and big end shells whilst i'm at it) and noticed that the ACT (the one in the charge carrier pipe, think its the ACT) sensor was unplugged, could that have effected it?

hmmmmmmmm, hard to say the ignition ECU uses the sensor but i can't see it making the difference between popping your gasket and not.
Have you identified where the gasket has failed yet

Hard to say its not obvious (well not to me anyway!) but No.1 had water in and 2 3 & 4 were dry.

Should be obvious if its gone to that extent!
Or...........you could have a cracked head or block in that case.....

Ive zoomed it up but the resolution isnt very high, top left conrner between 10-11 o'clock looks suspect, you need to pull the gasket off the head though and inspect both sides
