Default fitted boost gauge today....

And on idle its sits about -15, in first gear it only goes upto 0, same with second, but in third and fourth it goes upto about 6 or 8 psi, havent tryed 5th, is this correct? i thought it would go up past 0 in first and second aswell??? i fitted in the t-piece where the dump valve was. cheers

Idle looks correct.
3rd and 4th also look correct (standard ?)
but it should also go above 0 as soon as the turbo comes in during 1st and 2nd.

The t-piece shouldn't matter where it is fitted, if it registers then it's fine.

Just for reference, mines cut in on the inlet manifold vacuum line on the left-hand hose, altho I've also seen them fitted into the right-hand hose with no problems.

Very odd, presumably you've had your foot flat on the floor in 1st & 2nd?

what boost was it running before fitting the gauge was it higher than what it is now(6-8psi)
forgeting the boost gauge how does the car feel, does it feel as if its not boosting?
strange one,go back over what youve done and check the hose isnt kinked in any way stopping the air gettin to gauge

im thinkin more along the lines of the engine maybe rocking and kinking it so theres more load in lower gears, dunno mate clutchin at straws
would a boost leak not give higher boost in lower gears compared to higher gears?could the wastegate penny be stuck or sticking

Above all if it had a leak, you know an MFI car would throw the toys out of the pram and not run.

Ill get a pic up tomorrow, but i persume its in the correct place as the dump valve was there and that was working fine, thing is you can feel the boost coming in through the gears aswell, if any thing more noticable in 1st and 2nd than other gears, car is totally standard apart from magnex, the hoses fine, but if there was a leak any where i would notice it whilst driving wouldnt i?

Foot was flat to floor, cheers for help so far

Thats odd!

If the dump valve was also piped up to there it should be fine.

yeah thats what i was thinking, although i went garage today for emissions set up, and he said the pipe to the dump valve was sucking or something?? and its not meant to, or it wasnt helping the car run correctly.

I just want it all sorted and running perfect before it goes to NMS on 5th June to be chipped.

The pipe may have a split in it then.

Air leaks arent good on RS Turbo's so get that sorted before you take it for a setup

Halfords do stock it but you best bend over ready if your planning to buy it from there!!!!!!!!!

the blue piping should be ok, you should use some very small cable ties to secure the ends of the pipes on aswell

I jus took the pipe off the dump valve, and fitted the boost gauge pipe in place of it, leaving the dump valve in place but not connected up, thinking about could that be my problem?!

Jambo he means hes used the dump valves vacuum pipe for the boost gauge.

That shouldnt make a difference really, unless its blowing the dump valve open but then i would of thought it would do it in every gear

Hope fully it will be something easy, as know ones evr heard of it , revving to probably around 5 thousond as i dont want to thrash the fuck out of it yet lol, but you can hear the turbo spinning up from around 2500 - 3000. Its a nomad boost gauge, cant be faulty as its working in other gears, tested it in 5th earlier it goes to around 6psi there aswell.

You could well have a cracked wastegate housing or similar, that makes the turbo not hold boost

No mate, this below to me makes it sound like Selby's removed the d/v pipe from the t-piece and fitted the boost gauge pipe instead, leaving the d/v pipe dangling and not connected.

Surprised it ran if this was the case tho...
Guess we'll have to wait for the pic.

If he leaves the dump valve in place it doesn't present an air leak because they are spring loaded as im sure you are aware, but it means theres no boost pressure on the diaphram when the cars boosting up, so it could be blowing the dump valve open on boost.....

But as i say if this was the case i'd expect it to happen in all gears
