if its a 1998 3,2 evo model should it be either a 6 speed manual or the smg box.
just been on about an r reg one owner 3.2 with 40k on it and the guy recons its only 5 speed-he is a trader and is 100% but he recons he has driven it to the mot testing station this morning and cant remember it having 6 gears-
he does sound quite old though
he said its just an m3,not an evo model-doesnt sound right to me.its defo a 3.2 model as he has just looked on the v5
cant see it till later today so just curious now

haven't you got one of those guides that most traders have?? that gives you info and prices about literally every car going?
might save asking about every car you buy or are thinking of buying

Some SMG's got converted to manual (at great expence) I guess someone could have put the 5 speed in.
If it was an SMG car the washer bottle filler will be in the rad cover, manuals had it on the inner wing

whats wrong with me asking a question about any car?i dont claim to know everything.
i was already 99% certain that all evo's were either smg or 6 speed, but you never know-maybe there was somewhere along the line a 5 speed one that someone knew of.it sounds a real genuine car-just looks like the seller isnt sure what he has.

as per everyone else. it its a 98 then its an evo, and it came witha 6speed manual/smg box.
if it has a 5 speeder, it's had the gearbox changed at some point, ot it's a REEEEEEEEEEEEEEALY late regisered 3.0

i think its safe to say it probably is a 6 speed one.i spoke to the old guy about it earlier and he normally deals in mercs, but got this as a p/x from a merc dealer.when i asked if it was 6 speed or smg he went quiet and then said "i think its a 5 speed-i took it to the garage earlier for an mot and service, but cant remember seeing a 6th speed!"
may be going to see it in a bit as its a 1 owner 40k miles one-but its boston green!!!it just caught my eye this morning in the auto trader.
