mk4 efi cvh rev counter not working...
i have swapped the clocks with known good ones, but still nothing.
someone told me its the green wire on the coil, but the car dont have a coil.
i have also been told that the green wire on the edis module goes to the green wire at the back of the rev counter, so i cut the wire by the module and then connected it to the cut green wire at the clocks. the car runs very lumpy with this and the rev counter still dont work so i put it back to how it was.
any help would be great.

First of all, you surely have a coil or coils. If it's a escort with efi, then the coils are in the coil-pack that is sitting at the end of the cylinder head. The efi clocks need the coil signal to the rev counter's green signal wire. So, just pick one of the two coil wires. And don't go cutting any wires if you need to tap into a line!!!
Hey.You have a small black box between the coil and the counter. It makes the signal. If it isn't or wrong, the counter isn't work. This little box is in the EFI,Xr3i and RS and other.I haven't a picture from it now, but i take a picture soon if need.
Congratulations for cutting off the supply to 2 of your spark plugs
The rev counter signal wire does indeed go to the coil packs, but if its a MK4 loom you have there is a supressor over by the edis module. Check its present/connected up

just been to have a look at the engine.
there is one multi plug on the coil back with 3 wires. they dissapear into the loom with nothing visable in between.
had a look for the surpressor. the only thing i could find was a small black thing which looks like a fuse holder only it dont have a fuse. there is a thick red wire and a thick green wire going in/coming out. after about 3 cms, there is a 2 pin plug with green wires on the other side to the thick red and green wires.
is that it?
if so, what next.
thanks for your help...

Thats the puppy!
Suppressor is obviously gone, best to run one if you can but you won't cause any damage without one, might get some eratics readings/spurious signal though
