Default Max 'safe' boost?

What is the max 'safe' boost a ERST S2 can run without major engine mods? ie: pistons, crank etc...

Currently running 14psi 170bhp.

Cheers!

18 psi with a decent intercooler is possible.
what is your spec to get 170 bhp at only 14 psi though??

Current spec:

Scorpion Stainless Exhaust
Bailey Dump Valve
-31 actuator
K&N Induction
Ahmed Bayjoo chip

why would i need a uprated intercooler to run 18psi?

Cheers!

how long is a piece of string? She'll take a lot of boost on a std bottom end if it's done right.

Because your ACT's will go through the roof else, which will limit your power output.

Balanced, uprated rods / pistons, ARP bolts etc...

A strong block in other words.

not just that, setup in a way as no detonation etc. But you are spot on in the fact that more boost can become counter productive.

Yeah i see your point, I just want to get the most out of it without going crazy on uprgrades.
So if for example i can gain another few horses by upping the boost to say 16 or 17psi without having any negative effects then thats what i'll do!
But if not....no worries i'll stay as I am.......for now

I thought 14psi was about the limit of a standard I/C, anything above that and the ACT's will just go through the roof?

Upgrade the I/C and you can turn the boost up further then, your next limiting factor is your pistons I suppose.

More boost = more stress on components, and the standard internals can only take so much.

if u goto 17/18psi, you will gain more torque, and possibly a touch more power. However, if u like driving flat out a lot, then don't bother. The temps rise so fast that you start to lose power, and your stressing the turbo etc. If you like an occasional blast in the lower gears then u'll be ok.

ok perhaps i'll invest in a bigger intercooler and maybe think about tweaking the boost then.

Cheers fella's!
