Oh well, looks like for a few of you, christmas has come early.
Unfortunately, the whole traders/usernames situation is genuinely
making me very sad.

I have just had the final message from the webteam saying I have to change
my user name in 48 hours or else.

I really do not mean to be difficult but I do not want my user name changed.
So therfore, it looks like I will not be around here any more after this week.
I appreciate that this site is bigger than little old me but where is all this
going to end ?

Even now I am confused by all the user names changes and I am sure I am
not alone in that.

I can see that rules must apply to everyone but I really dont make a penny
out of this website since I stopped being an official trader 2 years ago.

It would seem to keep a handfull of people happy (namely some of the traders)
a fuck load of trouble for genuine enthusiasts like myself is all I am
entitled to after being on this site since it all started and helping out.
Ok, I have pissed a few people off but I really do believe I have helped
more people out than I have upset and still have much to offer.

For the record,
I dont sell ecu's any more so I dont compete with others on that front.
I sell a small amount of ecu monitors as this business barely breaks even now
ECU monitors are sold only through PF official traders and I always direct enquires
to theses people only.
To my knowledge, this competes with no one else as my monitor products
are unique.

I suppose I am clutching at straws here in the vain hope for a last
minute reprieve but in reality I now know its pointless.

As for the new tech advisors set up, I think its a scheme asking for
trouble. I think PF works fine the way it is.
Perhaps a few more moderators to keep check on the bedroom traders ....????

I know it costs money to run this site in terms of computer hardware
and high speed data links but the site is for enthusiasts run by enthusiasts
and to me, the real enthusiasts like myself are being pushed out the door.


Finally, I appologise to Stu for being a difficult cunt here but I must
make a stand on this. I dont hold it against you personally.

For those who care - I thank you.

For the whinging traders - Dont forget, most people are here NOT to make money.

For all the inevitable piss takers - I dont give a shit what you think
and never have done.

 

Given that Simon no longer has a business that is in any way related to the username SECS - what exactly is the point of removing it from him?

Frankly I think Simon is right to make a stand. The point is that it refers to a business that is no longer trading. As such, it is no different to changing the username to something like Pepsi - which would not be techincally illegal under the ruling.

If one is to enforce rules as strictly as they are currenlty being enforced, then they must be enforced absolutely - no matter which side of the line that they may fall.

The mods are asking him to change his name because the minority see it as an unfair bias.

To be frank, I dont know Phils relationship with Bosch parts - is he still selling bosch parts? If not, then same applies. He should be reinstated to his well known name.

Paul - it is the misunderstanding of the rules set out by the mods in an attempt to appease the traders (such as yourself) that has led to SECS being asked to change his username, which I am sure you agree is a Draconian measure out of proportion.

I wasn't gonna get involved but because your getting a mardy and doing the off I would like to say -

You keep saying about whinging traders don't you think it has something to do with encouraging companys to pay the fees to trade on the board which in turn helps Pet upgrade the servers to keep the speed of the site up as it grows?

If companys know they can get away with subscribing with their company name and they know people will contact them for parts why should they bother paying? as companys are out to make money not pay subs if they don't need to.

and how many posts from gold members and non members are on here AND the RSOC board when the this board goes down for upgrades "whinging" about the down time when most of the time is for 2/3hrs at a go.

Gold members pay Ł20 per year divide that per day then per hour and you recon your not getting your moneys worth and I remember a poll about "is it worth Ł20" we pay 10x's that and you don't see the traders "whinging" about the downtime.

Whatever you want to think the board has to pay for itself otherwise it won't exist as why should Pet put up with the grief and keep putting his hand in his pocket.

The other day I saw you getting all arsey with Jano about allegedly copying something you designed should I say stop whinging part of life?? No I wouldn't because you have spent you time and money developing something and somebody else has got it for nothing.

Really us old traders are gonna get a raw deal because of the new rules because before the rule change IF I decide not to pay the fees this year my name would stay the same but now it will be changed.

This rule should have been implemented at the start but PassionFord is a victim of its own success as its a good advertising tool and a wealth of information.

this isn't meant to be a slagging, its meant to point out that its not personal.

Now come on enjoy the board as a user as you say you are and not a company which say your not.

At the end of the day, Passionford influences a major number of RS/Cosworth enthusiasts. Saying that, if someone said I need a SECS monitor or whatever they are I would go directly to him rather than using anyone else. If I didn't use Passionford, I would go directly to him, it is our choice whether to use him or not isn't it? Why would I want to pay more from a trader who pays Ł200 a year to sell stuff on here? Or doesn't have warranty, etc. etc. etc.

You can't stop the freedom to choose who the hell I want. Nor can you bully people into buying from traders who have paid their money.


As far as I'm concerned everyone will know who they are when they register their new names and everyone will continue using them.

I agree that if someone is selling a product on passionford directly then they should pay. If they no longer are a company and are selling them quietly through PM's who are you to stop them? The person contacted them to buy something that they make. Not any other trader, happens to be life I'm afraid. A nanny Passionford will make things worse.

Who cares what his name is.

I was told on scoobynet that i coulnt have my user name , and i dont deal in scoobys

I was pissed at the way i was simply banned and not given a simple pm etc to explain ,,but was quite happy to change it and still use the site

The net is now the biggest advertising method in the world and like everything in life you get nothing for free , and why should you ,

Its a simple move with the times action thats happening everywher , so as i see it , you pay or you change ,,I paid

As such, he should not be affected by the new ruling. This is the point.

20 quid contribution to keep passionford up and running was the initial scheme. Fair do's......

Now cos traders pay 200 quid a year (whoop de doo) they seem to be running the shop all of a sudden. Been like this months now and its no good..

IMO if this is what PF is going to be like from now on i reckon they should fook the trader idea off all together and just have a chat bb for ford enthusiats.,,,oh thats what its supposed to be
