Default If you were considering getting a cossie as you're only car.

.... would you factor having Air con as something that would stop you getting one or not?

I really am considering getting another Sapph, and would like one with a/c as its going to be my only car.

I like a/c, having had cars with it before, but would it stop YOU getting one without for summer etc?

I've already made up my mind, so no comments about that please!

i would much prefer to base buying a cossie on if it is mechanically & sound & bodywork sound

not if it had A/C or not, just open your window

the reason why i cant decide to get another cossie or not is they dont make a 2wd cossie with aircon,,,,, all that crap about open the window,,,,, mate sitting at a car show in the summer with no aircon and the window down compared to a car with the windows up and aircon is the same as saying jade goody is just a pretty as jennifer aniston,,,,,, sorry mate but theres sooooo much difference

you obv dont own a car with aircon,,,, otherwise you would NEVER have said that

at work all the cars have aircon,,, when someone gets the keys to one without aircon the look on there face is almost like they just been given a bus pass

honestly of theres a 2wd cossie with aircon i would buy one tommorrow and sell the bm,,,, just cause there aint im prob gonna fit a bigger engine to the BM

Wouldnt stop me at all.

As said, with cars this old you get the best you can, things like colour and optional extras have to take second place to the overall condition of the car.

Why not just get a 4wd Saph with aircon and convert it to 2wd then?

my last RS2k had A/C, and so does the birds A3, so i know what A/c is like

and yes it is much better than just opening your window, but i would prefer to have a proper nice cossie n just sweat a bit maybe in a traffic jam rather than buy a car based on the A/C

Its just finding a decent 4wd with the aircon.

My original thought was yes it does matter, but now im thinking a little differently, so may consider one without now..

If you are thinking of having a Cosworth as your only car, have considered help?

I know a number of good doctors that will be able to help you on this problem.

my saff is my everyday motor, n it just lives on the street

its still only a car, designed to get you from A to B like any other car

i used my saff as an everday car for the last 4 months or so, and now i'm considering a runaround as well.

Dont get me wrong the saff has been perfectly reliable
, and drives mint, but as an everyday car there are some many reasons not to choose a saff, unless you get a beaten up old dog.

1. Its too thirsty for short journeys
2. it makes you too paranoid, i wouldnt wanna leave my saff anywhere for fear of parking dents and thieving scum
3. its quite hard work, when you have a paddle (needed for stage 3 IMO)

but too get back to the original question...go for one with AC...mine has

I also once tried it for some considerable time!

Lessons learnt to add to the points already made by gingeRS....

Even a good one these days is at best 15 years old. this means that you have to put up with the sort of issues that happen to 15 year old cars. It aint just about normal servicing any more.

Also - when you need specialist bits, Ford dont sell em any more - Even with the good breakers that we have, it will still increase the overall off-road time.

given the flexibility of good insurance companies these days to allow you one no claims on two cars, do what I did - get a cossie and fuck the air con, and get a cheap mondeo etc with air con for next to bugger all and rack the mileage up on that.

That way you wont hate your cossie

fook off, i sit in traffic all the way to work for 45 mins, compared to the mx-5 i drove before (hydraulic clutch) it could get a little tiring.

living in london i spend my life in traffic

or get a reyland hydraulic clutch conversion

Ive got aircon and theres nothing better than going for a steady drive in the summer, windows up, aircon on. Must admit i only use it now and then but always good to have when your sweating your knackers off. However, i wouldnt, and didnt use aircon as a deciding factor in buying one, but its always a bonus if the right car has it.

What difference does "real" london make? Would "fake" london ruin your image?

rory my cossie done over 29k in the first year i had it, hence why everyone said it was always dirty

and i always though you was hertfordshire rather than london,,,, you know what i mean buy the 01992 london residents,,,, imo if you cant use a oyster card to get home or have a night bus service then you aint london

lampchop give it another 5 years and the estate agents will be calling scotland " close access to central london" and in 10 years they will call it " london boarders"

croydon is classed as london now as is chingford too,,, they london but only JUST

We've got not one but two cossies as daily drivers, and a saab but that's been off the road for 18 months

Neither has aircon, and to be honest, considering the number of days it's really hot here, it doesn't really bother me day to day, only for a week or so at the peak of summer, and I get over that quickly

The saab has aircon, but that's on permanently on the passenger side (and costs a fortune to fix), so being a passenger is like being in a freezer, not what you want in winter

Ive driven on a daily basis a car with aircon, on the motorway, for the last 2-3years.

And to be honest there less than 10days a year you REALLY need it IMO.

Im not arsed if a cars got it or not, just dont wear big jackets and jumpers when its hot.

And dont be such a sweaty cunt

i've used my esc cos for 5 years as a daily car and its never missed a beat,so you can use a cossie as an everyday car in my experience. I held out for a mint low millage car with air con,i turned down loads of good ones because they didn't have air con as i was determined to have air con......since i've owned my esc cos i must have used the air con about 10 times So i'd say f**k the air con and find a minter and if it has air con then thats a bonus.
