Default GET YOUR MONEY BACK TODAY!!!! ITS SO EASY......

One week ago i put the wheels in motion for reclaiming my bank charges back, i worked out over the last 3 years they have charged me £2152.80
I think every one will agree this is some serious money to just flitter away so i spent a morning getting every thing ready. I got back all my previous bank statements from my local bank, and went through and them and highlighted all the charges i could find. Its one of those jobs that i had just been saying "i'll sort it tomorrow, i'll sort it tomorrow".

Now the important bit:

http://www.penaltycharges.co.uk/

This website has template letters that have been drawn up by specialist in law, and there are different letters for different responces the bank may give you.
I personally had closed my account down 6 months previous to me doing all this and theres even a letter for people like me whoes accounts are closed.
If you spend a little bit of time reading the website above it can make a big difference to your finanual situation.

remember- the banks have never not given any one there money back, these charges are illegal!!!!

Hope this helps anybody, i know that within in the next 7 days im going to be £2152.80 better off...... thats 2 weeks from having nothing to getting it all back, got to be worth it.

7 days is very optimistic, it wont be settled that quick.

Loads of people on here have done it though, there is a 25-30 page thread about it somehwere.

Guess what

Ive got ALL mine back as well (although only £495)...

They called me the other night and said would I accept £225, I said can I have it in writing...

Letter came (with letter to sign) and decided rather than bother with the post I'd call her up.

Called her and said Id spoke to the financial ombudsman, and I said I am not obliged to accept the offer.

She said "would i consider accepting anything lower" ( ) and I said no.

SHe said OK, amend the letter she sent me to state the £495, and that I had spoke to her, and the offer letter will be changed

My boss, all he did was these following steps:

a) called halifax, said he wants his bank charges back, and got them!!

No statements, nothing

Needless to say he is now 1k better off...

Are these charges for being in an overdraft?

This is good - but all the banks are going to start doing is charging for a current account. It's already been tabled and is going to happen so either way they fuck you. Only difference being is people who stay within their limit and don't get cheques and direct debits bounced will end up paying for it as well.

Nice to get a lump back I agree, but in the long run it's a complete false economy.

I've heard rumours of 40k being thrown around for one customer.. (his charges refunded)

How would they treat asking for charges back if it was Staff?

You'd probably be told not to be a cheeky bastard and you should know better working for a bank I suspect.

If you seriously persued it I suspect there would be mention of disclipinary proceedings........I spent 9 years working for a major bank in the City and I know what they're like mate. If you kick up a stink they'll find a way to get you out.

Well, it works both ways doesnt it..

They charge you for going overdrawn, and its the law that you can claim for it back!

If they hadnt charged you, you wouldnt be claiming!

Simple!

But if you stayed within your agree facility in the first place they wouldn't have charged you and therefore nobody would have anything to claim back.

Simple !

I personally don't see how people can claim the charges, as it's in the T+Cs when you open the account.

Legal loophole. But don't worry, it's probably closed by now as the banks will have changed their T&C's and will have enough clout to change the European law on it.

im getting fined £30 this months for going £4.06 over my OD limit for less than 24 hours..

takes the piss that they can still charge that muchfor less than a day.

as soon as i saw i was over in paid in some cash.

but the real thing that pissed me off was that what made me go OD was that lloyds took out the intrest on my OD when they knew i didnt have the full ammount in the first place.

wouldnt have minded as much if it was to cover something else...

Just because it's in the Terms and Conditions it means nothing mate. It's like telling someone your going to kick them in the face before you do so. Still doesen't give you the right to do it. If that makes sense.

I'd like to know how far back you can claim? I had some serious charges with barclays in 1995 and again with lloyds in 2001, amounts to about 900quid in total.

Read somewhere last week that same thing is happening with mortgages and the early pay off charge thing.

yeah its 6 years, and its ONLY for charges they make to write you a letter.

if you pay a monthly fee for an account, or interest, thats NOT covered, if you get sent a letter saying you went over the limit and they are charging you 30 quid to send a letter then that IS covered, as it doesnt cost 30 quid to post a fucking autmoatically generated letter.

THAT is what they are doing illegally, lieing to you saying it cost them 30 quid when it didnt.

So if you dont go over drawn and keep you account in the black all the time then you can not claim.

But if you have been a bad boy and gone OD and they charge you then you can claim that back

sorry people i have been out tonight so not been able to replie.

as for some one previously stating " if you keep within your overdraft blah blah!!!!"

im pritty sure that 99% of people have incured charges at some point in there life. its an appalling attitude to have the above, as if any one can think thats its right for some to be charged these amounts of money!!!

the bastards at natwest usest to charge me £38 a time for either an unpaid d/d or going over my over draft, then if the payment didn't go out the 1st time they would slam it back through a few hours later doubling the charges!!!! I mean it was fucking obvious there wasn't enough money the 1st time so why try it 3 hours later??? my gold fish could of worked that out!!!!

i wouldn't piss on these dick heads if they were on fire, they are about as much use as a cock flavoured lolly pop, complete retards

financing is hard with a family and its some times bound to fuck up some times, but why should we stand for these profit making scandel of the banks.

i appologise for the strong language every one but it agrivates me more than you can imagine this subject..

Not to sure how many times ive been charged for being overdrawn but some people on here mustve been charged like 50 times + to build up 2000-3000 odd quid of charges to claim back
Surely after like 10 times of getting that charge you would be trying your hardest not to incur that fee again
Anyway when i get back might just have to get all my statements out from the last 6 years and have a gander

As it happens today she's paid off the OD and is ready to fight them as she has a new account elsewhere. Gonna beat the fuckers!

Apart from the banks deciding to start charging for a current account now (First Direct are the first to do it, and others will follow), I fully expect to see them binning customers completely if they repeatedly abuse the overdraft facility.

Then other banks will ask if you have ever been refused an account and decline your business too just like insurance companies already do.

So with no bank account and no way to pay Direct Debits etc or even get your wages paid in, the offenders will be well screwed up.

Still, maybe they will be able to get a savings account at the Post Office!!!
