Default BMW X3 what are they like

as title

reason i ask is my sister just went out with my mum only to come back to find she has put a deposit on a 56 plate bmw x3 at around £25k i think

looks like the very basic model diesle,6 speed maunal etc

just wondering what there like really as ive only ever driven the x5 which i tried to get here to get

she has a brand new warrior at the mo but shes finding a bit too big for her i think hence down grading to this, still prefer the warrior tbh

Id rather have an older X5 for the same money personally. Never driven an X3 on the road but i have driven an X5 and i couldnt fault it at all. I think the X3 is seen as the girls X5, which is obviously not a bad thing if your a woman, but bad if your a bloke with one.

S1rst

my thoughts exactly lol

ive driven the x5 and loved it, the warriror i like still i just have to take the babe air frshner form the mirror when i drive it though

it looks like a nice car though and should be ok for her, considering she went form a mx5 straight to the warrior i think the x3 should be ok
at least this has parking sensors

she just said that she may keep it if she doesnt get bored and i said first thing is a set of 19s if she does

unless she's doing a LOAD of miles get the petrol one and save more money than you'll spend on fuel

The X3 is utter litter. I have driven several as courtesy cars whilst my M5 was being fixed.

They have no purpose whatsoever. They are like a 3 series estate with no efficiency, and makes you seasick.

cant go offroad, cant do anything. A total waste of fucking metal!

All the above imho of course !

Couldnt agree more!

I would add that I do stupid miles every year, and when BMW give me them, I usually do a few hundred miles in them - there is nothing good I can find to say ab out them

X3 driver => someone who has to have a status symbol, but can't afford an x5.

one plus point if you are going to go off road in it,, it would be easy to jet wash that horrible lumps of plastic on the inside

Personally for that kind of money i would of bought a couple of year old XC90.... based on a car chassis instead of a van chassis they are so much nicer to drive... safer too!

the x3 is far too plasticy for my liking on the inside, and the 2.0l version has so much hesitation in it!

Car chassis? what van does BMW make to base the X3 on one? or have I missed the point!

maybe i should of worded that differently.... based on the 'principal' of a van chassis.... as like 99% of AWD or 4x4's are based on.

To be fair, I havent taken one off road, but I have done significant proper offroading in Landys and Range Rovers. It all depends on what you expect.

If off road means a grass field, then it would probably be okay. The low ground clearance in my opinion prevents it from being taken seriously for anything else IMHO

ive tried to convience her to get here deposit back beofre she signs teh contract tonight! as theres a lot better cars out there for the money and i think its a waste tbh

but end of day its her decision just hope she makes the rite one

even her fella said get the x5
