I've read about this and from all the write up it sounds too good to be true for the price, has anyone got it on their car and how much difference does it make?
(If this has been done loads of times before then sorry
but i've done a search and it didn't come up with anything)

I was given an ecotek valve by our local motorfactors when they first came out to test... I was still at uni so it was probably '99-2000? I had it on a little 106 xsi and in all honesty it made no difference that you would notice
There was probably a slight increase in fuel efficiency but I like killing trees so IMO thats a bad thing

i've already got a full stainless and a k&n replacement filter but you can't buy inductions kits for 1600i's. Kent cam & vernier is what i'm looking at next but thats about Ł300-400, might have to be an xmas pressie for my car
Could alway whip the head off whilst you'r ethere and get somebody like Karl Norris to give it the once over.
Afraid the 1600i uses a mechanical based injection system as opposed to an electronic system so no chips for you I'm afraid

If you want a cheap ting try the FSE power valve on the 16i, will make a bit of a difference, It replaces the fuel pressure regulator and basically enriches the mixture a bit [depending on the setting] and allows you to run a higher fuel pressure on acceleration, but normal on constant load so you're not caning your petrol
I've had a few injected cars with these on, a nissan 100nx, honda civic vti etc and it made a noticeable difference considering the cost was about Ł80
Other than that, see above you gotta sort your breathing out before doing any other mods, so look for a decent 2nd hand exhaust and direct induction kit
Next move would be a decent cam etc, but whilst they're doing that you could get a head skim and lighten and balance the flywheel??

nitrous oxide is NOT a flamable gas, it will not explode

i was thinking more of it getting wrapped around lamposts because it'd be too quick for me and it killing my engine off after blasting nos and lots of power through it at short intervals

nitrous is not the way to go on a 16I
i would probably go with twin carbs and some head work for a real responsive car, unfortunatly this will cost you

nitrous isnt the perfect solution i admit it... but its cheap, and it does what its supposed to do (ie make car go VERY fast when you press the button)
Agree with Swerve. A nice set of carbs is a nice way to go. Even though the 1600i cam profile is better than the 3i cam it would still benefit from a fast road cam and vernier. Just ensure you speak to somebody that knows and understands the 16i and its querks

LOLHonestly, speak to Mr Cox and he'll point you in the right direction, it may not be as much as you think to eek a bit more out of the old girl.
ps. If you need any spares, ie coils or sensor lead etc get in touch. I have a spare splitter and some interior bits unopened and still in the Ford bags too.
Let us know how you get on?

Also have the Steering Column Shroud, top and bottom, unused in the Ford bags.
